Empty barrels and IBCs are reconditioned as far as possible. After being pre-treated and mixed, these kinds of packaging products are used as secondary fuel in cement furnaces or in similar incineration processes. This waste is used in part as a fuel and in part as a primary material in the manufacture of cement. It replaces primary fuel and primary materials and thus contributes to reducing extraction and incineration CO2 emissions.
